GET INVOLVED

Volunteer
Perhaps the first and biggest benefit people get from volunteering is the satisfaction of incorporating service into their lives and making a difference in their community and country.
The intangible benefits alone—such as pride, satisfaction, and accomplishment—are worthwhile reasons to serve. In addition, when we share our time and talents we:
• Solve Problems
• Strengthen Communities
• Improve Lives
• Connect to Others
• Transform Our Own Lives
Volunteers are at the core of our efforts. Everything we choose to do requires manpower to achieve. So there are volunteer opportunities for all of our activities.
Community Action
A community action plan is a road map for implementing community change by identifying and specifying WHAT will be done, Who will do it and HOW it will be done. In other words, the action plan describes what the community wants to accomplish, what activities are required during a specified timeline and what resources (money, people and materials) are needed to be successful.
SPAN-GA has mapped out many ways that you can be a part of the Community Action Teams throughout Georgia. Distributing purple packets in your community, creating awareness events, connecting people to the GSPIN Network, developing survivor services and healing activities, and lots more! Let us help you figure out what you can do!

Community Education
Many survivors of a suicide loss would like to spread to word about this crisis. They would like to speak at events, clubs, schools, churches and more. And we know that they have a very important voice!
So SPAN-GA created a program to help our Community Educators have a consistent, safe and up to date message to bring to their own community.
If you would like to speak in your area, contact us to find out more about how to be a Community Educator!
SOS Group Facilitation
Joining or starting a support group in your area is a great way to get involved. If you are at least 2 years down the road and interested in supporting other survivors, ask about how you can register for the SOS Group Facilitation and Home Visit Team Training. SPAN-GA provides scholarship for the annual training held at the Link Counseling Center.

Support Fundraising Efforts
It seems obvious why fundraising is important: to raise funds for needed items, services and programs. With the economy crash came a stuggle to get the few funds that were still available.
Fundraising can also be healing as survivors and their family and friends find purpose in supporting efforts that will help to impact the crisis of suicide.
SPAN-GA does not do much fundraising. But the few times they do during the year, we would love for you to join us by creating a team, getting your family and friends to support the cause, helping us find sponsors, etc. Check our our Spring Walk on the North side, in Cumming Georgia, Karl's Call for Life 5K, and our Fall Walk on the South side, Coweta County Suicide Awareness and Prevention Walk.
