SPAN-GA LAUNCHES GEORGIA CAT'S

Do you wonder how you can help? Do you wish you could be a part of the solution?   
Well here's how!  Join the GA CATS!!

The GA CAT's is a grassroots' Community Action Team made up of Georgian's creating suicide prevention/survivor support awareness, education, advocacy and resources in their communities.    SPAN-GA is the central hub providing resources and support for these individuals and organizations conducting community based activities to broaden the scope of our statewide reach to impact the crisis of suicide in Georgia.

IT's THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN!!!  

6th ANNUAL LISA's RIDE
Saturday, October 9th, at 10:30am.   

Come join us at this great event organized by Diane and Pete Petro in honor of their beautiful daughter Lisa to help raise awareness of the crisis of suicide.

Registration starts 10:30 am at Longbranch Steak and Seafood 805 South Glynn Street, Suite 109, Fayetteville 770-461-9982 In the Fayetteville Town Shopping Center (next to Kroger)   Police escorted ride leaves 12 noon and returns to Longbranch at 1pm
  • $20 per rider and
  • $10 per passenger (includes a great ride and T-Shirt)
  • Raffle Prizes 
  • Lifekeeper “Faces of Suicide” Quilts will be displayed at this event.

Welcome to SPAN-GA

Suicide Prevention Action Network - Georgia, is a 501C(3) organization created in 2003 to reduce completed and attempted suicide in Georgia. Its focus is on creating public awareness and public/political will to provide resources to implement the Georgia State Suicide Prevention Plan. SPAN-GA empowers survivors of completed suicides, attempters of suicide, and supporters of suicide prevention to become actively involved in educating private and public citizens to the emotional and financial costs of suicide in Georgia. SPAN-GA succeeds SPAN USA, which moved to Washington D.C. in 2003.

Suicide Prevention Program

ImageOn April 28, 2006, Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue signed House Bill 1092 creating a Suicide Prevention Program.  This program will be managed by the injury prevention section of Division of Public Health of the Department of Human Resources.  The Bill was introduced in the House of Representatives on January 24, 2006 and sponsored by Representatives Judy Manning, Ron Stevens, Sharon Cooper, Jeff Brown, Debbie Buckner and Pat Gardner.
