Suicide Prevention Action Network - Georgia, is a 501C(3) organization created in 2003 to reduce completed and attempted suicide in Georgia. Its focus is on creating public awareness and public/political will to provide resources to implement the Georgia State Suicide Prevention Plan. SPAN-GA empowers survivors of completed suicides, attempters of suicide, and supporters of suicide prevention to become actively involved in educating private and public citizens to the emotional and financial costs of suicide in Georgia. SPAN-GA succeeds SPAN USA, which moved to Washington D.C. in 2003. |

Lisa's Ride 2008 is the 4th Annual Ride to raise awareness and advocacy for suicide prevention in Georgia. The ride this year will take place on Saturday, October 11th. Registration is at 10 am Great South Harley Davidson, 185 East Hwy 16, Newnan, Georgia.

Suicide Prevention Program |

On April 28, 2006, Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue signed House Bill 1092 creating a Suicide Prevention Program. This program will be managed by the injury prevention section of Division of Public Health of the Department of Human Resources. The Bill was introduced in the House of Representatives on January 24, 2006 and sponsored by Representatives Judy Manning, Ron Stevens, Sharon Cooper, Jeff Brown, Debbie Buckner and Pat Gardner. |

Sandy Martin started the National Lifekeeper Memory Quilts in the USA in December 1997. Their purpose is to raise awareness and prevent suicide by placing a "Face on Suicide," a visual image of the approximately 32,000 suicides that occur in America every year. |
